On 27 and 28 April, representatives of the U.S. Department of State, supporters of “Act on Equality” project and representatives of the U.S. Embassy Pristina, Kosovo visited PEN offices. During the meeting, they were acquainted with the project activities; the achievements, challenges, and success stories.
Mark Murray, Global Program Division on SGWI and Irene Marr, Senior Policy Advisor for Europe and Central Asia on SGWI had the chance to be present during the campaign organized by the young women and men of Podujeva Municipality, who had taken part in trainings of the “Act on Equality” project.
They also took part in the meeting held with men and women from the village of Batllava, during which they discussed the lack of women’s participation in the Village Councils and encouraged men to serve as allies towards gender balance in local decision-making structures. This activity was moderated by Mrs. Xhevrie Hyseni from Batllava. Mark and Irene highly appreciated the work done by the team so far and the success reached through this project.
